Chiusi guide
Chiusi is a small town in the Tuscany region. It has a population of 8,842 inhabitants (3/2009). Chiusi is close to Trasimeno and Montepulciano lakes and the Amiata and Cetona mountains, making it a perfect place for those who want to enjoy a nature holiday.
One of the main attractions in Chisui is the National Archaeological Museum. Because Chiusi was an important Etruscan center, the museum houses a number of Etruscan artifacts demonstrating Greece’s influence on the Etruscans. Another interesting attraction is the Labyrinth. These Etruscan tunnels were once used for drainage and water supply. Today visitors can take guided tours through them, which lay underneath the city. Chiusi also houses the oldest cathedral in the region of Tuscany. The cathedral was built at some point in the sixth century even though a majority of the architecture is Romanesque.
There are no airports nearby Chiusi and visitors will have to travel after landing before reaching the town. One of the airports that services Chiusi is the Firenze Airport (FLR), also known as the Peretola Airport or the Amerigo Vespucci Airport. It is a rather small airport with only a single runway. It is approximately 106 kilometers from the town. While it is small, it provides service to numerous airlines around Europe, including Alitalia, Air France, and Lufthansa Regional.
